A self-diagnosed attention deficit disorder notwithstanding, Aran confirmed that he has a new focus when it comes to poker. He improved upon his second-place finish at the last tournament, taking home the top honors at the Lazy Wombat II on Thursday.
He was already a safe bet through to the Tournament of Champions, but this now puts him in great position to get exempt from an entry fee.
Mr. Fly by the Seat of his Pants, Ben, was up to his old tricks as he pushed or called all-in bets with some very mediocre to poor hands and sucked out nearly every time. It landed him in the top-3 yet again so you can't argue with the results of his style of play.
It was also an impressive night for Tyler who was down to nothing while we were still at two tables, but came roaring back to nab second and secure a spot in the tournament of champions.
The results leave quite the interesting race for the final slots. A quick look at the standings shows that in all likelihood, the following players are already in: Ben, Aran, Jon and Dave.
That leaves the following players on the bubble or battling for a spot, either needing people below them to make no movement or needing a point or two to get in. This group includes: Tyler (virtually in as only a wild scenario puts him in a poke-off), Steve (likely safe barring a shake-up), Chris, Adam and MattG. Truant players such as Andy, Beast, Brett and MattM could easily show up for the last tournament and sneak in, but we'll see if they can participate.
It will be an exciting conclusion to the season on August 20 at Beast's.
Event #4 Standings:
1) Aran
2) Tyler
3) Ben
4) Chris
5) Adam
6) Dave
7) Matt
8) Steve

Jon Uses Home Table Advantage
Given my early departure and general laziness, this will be quick recap.
Possibly the quickest exit in Camel history occurred when MattG went all-in with Ben only to find out that his Kings full of 10s wasn't enough to beat Ben's Kings full of Queens. A harsh loss, but that's poker.
After that, there was much back and forth, but in the end it came down to Ben, Aran and Jon. They traded chip stacks for a while, the blinds got huge and eventually Jon pulled it out with his KJ beating Aran's K10.
Kudos to Aran for his first-ever placing in a Camel event and this vaults him into a good position for making the TOC.
Standings on the night:
1) Jon
2) Aran
3) Ben
4) Steve
5) Dave
6) Adam
7) Chris
8) MattG
